Vicksburg Alumni Provides two separate scholarships for Warren Central High School (Vicksburg Alumni Merit Scholarship) and Vicksburg High School (Stewart L. Kees Scholarship).
PURPOSE:
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is an organization that was founded on the basis that everyone should strive to achieve in all of their endeavors. To help foster this attitude, the members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. would like to help young men and women obtain the goal of acquiring a college education.
ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES:
The following criteria are set forth for applicants:
- The applicant must be a graduating high school senior within the Vicksburg-Warren County School District and possess a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or above on a 4.0 scale. A copy of the applicant’s transcript from the high school attended verifying grades must be provided.
- The applicant must provide a letter of recommendation from a school official.
- The applicant must provide information regarding participation in extracurricular activities, community service, social clubs, and list any leadership positions held within those organizations.
- The applicant must submit proof of acceptance to an accredited College, University, or Trade School.
Need:
Need shall be a factor in the selection process, but is not necessarily a primary consideration
Selection:
Scholarship applications will be judged by an impartial committee.
Award:
One (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded for each scholarship each year depending on the rate of interest earned prior to the presentation year.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applicants will need to complete the following to be eligible for the scholarship:
- Complete online “Scholarship Application”
- Typed essay of 550-700 words on the topic: How will you use your college education to benefit yourself, family, and community?
- Submit completed application, essay, official high school transcript, proof of college/university/trade school acceptance by Deadline.
